About Caroline Gatewood
Fearless is the word Caroline Gatewood uses to describe herself—and it shows every time she steps on the field. Unshaken by pressure and always ready for the big moments, Caroline brought that mentality to her first summer with Coach Chad O’Neal and the Georgia Impact. Coach O’Neal calls her “the complete package,” and her performance backs it up.
Offensively, Caroline is a rare power slapper who can also drive the ball gap-to-gap, making her a dynamic and unpredictable weapon in the lineup. She’s a constant threat on the bases, combining speed, instincts, and aggressiveness to put pressure on defenses. Facing elite national competition this summer, she posted a .338 batting average over 98 plate appearances, with an impressive .452 on-base percentage.
Defensively, Caroline is an elite outfielder with a plus arm and the versatility to excel at all three outfield spots. Her ability to cover ground, read balls off the bat, and make difficult plays look routine makes her a defensive anchor.
Caroline’s impact extends beyond summer ball—she earned 1st Team All-State and All-Region honors while leading Harris County to a 4A State Championship in the 2024 season. She spent the majority of her summer with the 18U Hupp/Axelson team, where her previous coach described her as “a force to be reckoned with.” Prep Softball ranks her at No. 54 in their Top 100 high school player rankings.
Active on the recruiting trail, Caroline has already visited Auburn, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and Coastal Carolina, among others. A grinder and true competitor in every aspect of the game, she’s the type of player who elevates a roster the moment she joins it.
